ISLAMABAD - On the recommendations of PTI Election Tribunal headed by Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed, Chairman PTI Imran Khan Tuesday appointed Tasnim Noorani as PTI's Chief Election Commissioner to conduct next intra-party polls.
In another important development, PTI has removed Umer Cheema, the spokesman to Chairman PTI, from his post. He was recently given this task.
Imran in a statement thanked the PTI Election Tribunal especially Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmd and Yusuf Gabol for their painstaking work on the intra-party election petitions.
On their recommendations, the chairman appointed Tasnim Noorani, after getting his agreement, as PTI's Chief Election Commissioner with full powers that he may need to carry out all tasks relating to membership and electoral rolls including formation of any committee to assist him in any of these functions.
Noorani will be meeting with the Chairman within the next few days to discuss with him the nomination of other members of the PTI Election Commission.
The CEC will, after completion of the electoral rolls and election procedure will inform the chairman as to the appropriate time for the conduct of the next intra-party elections.
As the party moves forward towards preparing for and holding the next intra party elections, the chairman stated that the PTI Election Tribunal has fulfilled its tasks and thereby stands dissolved with immediate effect.
