Convict hanged in Multan

MULTAN: A convict who was awarded death sentence on the charge of killing a man to avenge murder of his brother, was executed at New Central Jail Multan on Tuesday morning. Convict Nasarullah’s brother Saleemullah was allegedly killed by three men - Ashfaq, Altaf and Muhammad Iqbal in July 1993 in Jatoi, district Muzaffargarh. On September 13, 1994, Nasarullah shot dead Altaf, while he was in police custody, at district courts and also injured a policeman. His legal heirs had claimed that Nasarullah was an intermediate student and 17-year-old when the offence was committed. The trial court sentenced him to death. Later, his appeals were rejected by the superior courts and the president also turned down his mercy petition. His body was handed over to heirs after execution.
