Decrease in Karachi crime since action launched: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said there had been a considerable decrease in incidents of street crime, kidnapping for ransom and target killing in Karachi since the start of operation against criminals and target killers. ”I would personally go to Karachi to get an update of the progress in the operation,” he told a delegation of PML-N office-bearers from Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain at the PM House on Tuesday. The prime minister said his government launched Zarb-e-Azb as a last resort. He said the country has to win the war against terrorists at all costs. “Some of them have been killed while others are on the run. There is no space for militancy and terrorism in Pakistan” he declared. “Our armed forces have given great sacrifices and are fighting this war with great valour.” The prime minister said Pakistan is faced with enormous challenges including terrorism and extremism as well as energy shortage. He said had the country been governed properly in the past, we would not have been in such a pathetic state of affairs.
