Int’l Health Moot begins today

The second annual International Health Conference will be held at Khawaja Safdar Medical College Sialkot from Friday (today) to Sunday with finalisation of arrangements in this regard.
Principal Dr Zafar Ali Chaudhry said that KMSMC will hold the three-day conference to provide opportunities to doctors and medical students to share their experiences and views and to learn from each other.
He said that different  training workshops of the doctors and medical students would be held during this international conference in which 60 senior doctors from across Pakistan and other countries will deliver lectures about the latest technologies of medical treatment especially on audiology orientation, neonatal resuscitation, infection control, developmental paediatrics, knee replacement surgery, endoscopy , gynae, eye, ENT, liver biopsy, ophthalmology, glaucoma, perinetal diagnosis and research methodology. The principal disclosed that the medical college would generate 200 house jobs till 2016 besides providing wide-range, better and advanced healthcare for the people of Sialkot.
He said that Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot would soon be made a 550-bed hospital as the Punjab government had already released a special development funds of Rs4b for the purpose.
He disclosed that College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) already granted postgraduate-level medical training at Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot.
 under the Khawaja Safdar Medical College Sialkot, where the medical students of this medical college were getting the postgraduate medical training in five segments including medicine, surgery, Gynae, paediatric and eyes. He said now 15 doctors had started training the students.
