700-year-old copy of Holy Quran stolen from Hindu owner in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: A 700-year-old copy of the Holy Quran was stolen from a Hindu owner in Rajhastan, India. The owner, 55-year-old Jaidev Prasad, said that it was gifted to him by a friend in 2011.
On Tuesday evening, a man who Prasad occasionally did business with, visited him and while Prasad was attending a phone call, the man allegedly held a gun to his head and asked to see the Holy Quran. He then took it and rode away on a motorbike.
“The copy was special”, Prasad said, “It had calligraphy in gold and also used sapphire.”
He said he had hoped to pass on the heirloom to his daughter.
After a case was registered, police said that the book was probably stolen because of its antique value and precious stones.
