Farmer deprived of cash in daylight heist


KASUR: Five muggers deprived a known farmer of Nizampura area of Rs0.5 million on busiest Railway Road in broad daylight here on Thursday. As per details, Muhammad Javed, brother of Nawa-i-Waqt Correspondent Haji Muhammad Sharif and Daily TheNation Correspondent Muhammad Ashraf Mehar came out of MCB Railway Road Branch after withdrawing Rs0.5 million. As soon as he got into his car, five muggers, riding two motorcycles, appeared at the scene. They snatched cash from Mr Javed and fled the scene under cover of live firing.
Following the incident a large number of traders gathered at the scene and blasted the police for its failure to control the rampant crime. They claimed that the crime, especially street crime had increased alarmingly but the police failed to rein in the criminals. They demanded the DPO and RPO to take notice of the worst law and order and order head-on measures to control the situation. The A Division Police failed to register an FIR of the incident till filing of this report.

LA-III Mirpur seat on 29th

MIRPUR (AJK) (Staff reporter): All arrangements have been finalised for by-election to LA-III Mirpur city seat of AJK Legislative Assembly according to the schedule on March 29, declared the AJK Election Commission.
The election campaign will end at the midnight of March 27 -48 prior to the polling. The local administration has been directed to ensure all-out steps for maintaining order during the polling, said an official statement issued by AJK EC office here on Thursday. “Stringent disciplinary action will be initiated against the official if found negligent on the polling day”, the AJKEC warned.
The statement also warned that any of the candidates or their supporter was found involved in creating disturbance, the candidate concerned would be disqualified. AJK EC Justice Munir Ahmed Ch asked the voters to exercise their right of franchise in a peaceful manner and refrain from creating law and order.

15 hunters held with 59 deer worth Rs1.2m

REPORTER): A Wildlife Department team recovered 59 hunted deer worth Rs1.2 million, and arrested 15 hunters in Cholistan.
A team including Kaleem Sarfraz, Ali Nawaz, Akhtar Hussain Abdul Ghafoor, Zaman Ajmal and Shahid Iqbal on a tip off raided Kandair area of Cholistan near Manthar Sadiqabad and arrested the 15 alleged hunters.
The Wildlife team then presented the accused with four deer in the court of Civil Judge Masood Ahmed. According to inspector Kaleem Sarfraz, the court imposed Rs30,000 fine on each accused involved in hunting otherwise they all would be sent on judicial remand. The accused including Biaz Khan, Hadayatullah, Balawar, Ashraf, Abdur Raheem, Jamshaid, Asif, Zaneetullah, Walyaz, Falakbaz, Ibrar Ahmed, Sanaullah, Ajmeer and Gul Nawaz, residents of Laki Marwat KPK.
An accused told reporters that they hunt deer with the coordination of Wildlife employees. According some sources, the number of arrested people was more than the accused presented in the court and the others were spared due to political interference. However, District Wildlife Officer Ayub Sabir denied the allegations. Later, the hunted deer were shifted to RYK Wildlife Park.

AIOU workshops start
KHANEWAL (STAFF REPORTER ): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Multan Region Director Ghulam Hussain said that workshops for the postgraduate courses started here at tehsil and district levels in Multan on Thursday.
In this regards, letters have already been issued to the eligible students on their postal addresses. If anyone has not received the letter, he can approach the office or contact at 061-9220201, 051-9057151, he said.
He further added that last date of admission for the semester -2015 was March 20, 2015 which has expired. But, the students can deposit their fees with late fee till March 31, 2015, late fee will be Rs100 for SSC level, Rs200 intermediate level and Rs500 for BEd and all postgraduate courses, he detailed.
