Quakes in Nawabshah, Swat


NAWABSHAH/SWAT: Seven people were injured when the roofs of two houses collapsed after a mild tremor in Nawabshah.

Tremors jolted the town at 2:07am on Wednesday, forcing residents out of their houses. Three people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Ghulam Rasool Shah Colony.

Several hours later the roof of a school in Goth Sharif Chandio also collapsed, injuring four students, who were rushed to a local hospital. Meanwhile, an earthquake of mild intensity Wednesday jolted Swat and adjacent areas; however no casualty was reported. According to reports, a tremor measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale rattled the district and its adjoining areas. The epicentre of the earthquake was 35km deep near the Pak-Aghan border. The tremor created panic among the people and forced them to leave their houses.
